About Monet Barnes

I stumbled into data analytics by accident, but in hindsight, it has always been my calling. I am curious by nature, which has served me well, not only in the world of data analytics, but also when it comes to interpersonal communication, compassion, and continuous improvement. It is also why on any given day, you can find me buried in a new course, deep diving into research or data, or listening to podcasts at 2x speed. Curiosity keeps me learning and discovering new insights.

The “why” that drives my work will always include a passion for bettering inequitable systems. Our society has been indefinitely shaped by historical harm, and there is a widely held belief that this harm is irrevocable. I believe that the answer to healing and supporting all members of our society lies not only in finding the courage to think outside the box, but also in ensuring diverse voices and perspectives are heard and amplified. Leveraging data to support diverse voices and recommendations has proven to be the most impactful method for change initiatives. Even more impactful, has been coaching others to retrieve and analyze data to empower them to begin to lead their own change initiatives.

Currently, I support staff members throughout a school district to develop actionable insights based on data. Using excel and data dashboards, I have streamlined the process of collecting and analyzing data to steramline systems, improve staff trainings, challenge inequitable systems and practices, and ensure the retention of diverse staff. Additionally, I provide professional development and coaching to staff members and administration to support them in utlizing data and analytics to support their own data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.
